The New Drop In Centre provides necessary and everyday items at a low cost for local families. The shop is a sustainable service that receives its goods through donations from the community. These goods include: women, men and children clothing, bedding, curtains (and other household goods), furniture, books and toys. These reusable goods are sold at affordable prices that start from 50p.
All items received that are not good quality are recycled. Textiles present a particular problem in landfills. This is because synthetics (man-made fibres) do not decompose, while wool garments do decompose, but produce methane. This methane produced then contributes to global warming. So, instead of throwing out your old clothes in the bin, drop them off into The Shop. We can take the necessary steps to a greener approach to the disposal of old clothes. This redistribution and recycling of everyday items also reduces the need for landfill space.
In addition, the income generated through the shop not only covers overheads, but also is used to support other community projects within the area. For example, we collect smaller items throughout the year then donate them to our local Church (St. Teilo's) for the shoebox appeal. The Shop also provides donates costumes for our annual community parade and carnival .
If you would like to donate clothes, bric-a-brac, toys, books, or household items then just pop into the Drop In Centre Tuesday to Friday from 9am to 4pm. If you would like to donate furniture, please call the Drop-In Centre in advance so we can make the necessary arrangements.
